Friends of Wiscraft

Wiscraft, Inc. Quality Production by the Blind is a private, not-for-profit, 501.c.3. organization funded by our industrial sales, individual sales, individual donation, corporations and foundation grants. In the absence of public funding, Wiscraft depends on sales revenue, or revenues it generates from other sources, to support its employment program for people who are legally blind. Revenue from sales may not cover the cost of operations. The company is not always capable of underwriting the costs of major capital expenditures for equipment and facilities from operating revenue. The “costs” associated with providing employment and meaningful benefits to the segment of the blind community Wiscraft has traditionally served are often not covered. Since Wiscraft does not receive tax support subsidies from the local, state, or federal levels of government and is not a United Way agency, your generosity, and that of others who financially support Wiscraft, enables us to continue our mission:

To enhance the lives of men and women who are legally blind through meaningful employment which meets each person’s skill level.

A glimpse of some old photos of Wiscraft and it’s predecessor, the Wisconsin Workshop for the Blind’s history show a long tradition of fulfilling its mission of providing supportive long term employment for people with severe vision loss. The locations, names and faces are different…but one thing that has remained the same since 1903 is the work ethic if the work force…a "we can do anything" attitude.

The most important part of Wiscraft’s history is the positive difference that it has made in the lives of its employees. A job at Wiscraft means more than just a paycheck. Working at Wiscraft provides self-reliance and self-esteem for our employees who have a difficult time finding employment elsewhere.

We are proud of our over 100 year history of promoting self-sufficiency and independence through employment. A partnership has developed between Wiscraft, its employees and our community at large. We rely on community support from people like you. I hope you will join us in supporting this year’s Friends of Wiscraft Campaign.
